Factions

Five groups, what each wants from you, and what standing with them costs.

Last updated 22 August 2026

There are five groups in Arcane Atelier, which you can swap between throughout the game. When starting out, you are automatically assigned to the spire caps, the lawful practitioners of magic, who have built a society guarded by secrecy. The people of this group are who expose you to the secret of magic, and prepare you for your journey. But shortly after progressing through the story you are noticed by a member of the draped brims, branching the storyline and granting the player the independence to pick an allegiance. The group you join impacts the way the world treats you, starting off as a spire cap results in the townsfolk being comfortable and accepted, compared to the draped brims which are viewed as hostile and outlawed. You can also ally with smaller groups such as the treasure guild, or bandits, which can provide certain benefits such as reduced hostility and additional, treasure related quests.

Spire CapsLegal. Spire Caps are accepted and welcomed in the world. Their obligations are helping the unknowing with tasks, and fending of blight infected creatures.
Knights of VanelonaLegal, elite. A special division of the Spire caps, who carry elite privileges such as learning more advanced magic, hunting down draped brims, and more combat orientated tasks instead of peaceful missions.
Draped BrimsHunted. An outlawed group who utilise and draw upon the power of forbidden magic. This organisation also focuses on blight related missions like the spire caps, along with combat related tasks like the Knights of Vanelona, at the cost of a lower reputation.
Treasure GuildNeutral. No politics, no secret history. Ruins, bounties and whatever is worth dragging out of a dungeon.
BanditsHostile. Foreign raiders after magic and money, in that order. Organised, well-funded, and not as independent as they look.

Choosing a side

Spire Caps and Draped Brims are two sides to one story, which result in varying trials, quests, world behaviour and the magic and weaponry you can access. If a player values calming, slice of life style quests, the Spire Caps are the right path, whereas a player who embraces combat and violence should pick the path of the Draped Brim.
